USA Today and Rand McNally, best known for their beautiful atlases, are currently hosting a competition for the most patriotic city in America as part of their “Best of the Road” competition. One of the six contenders is Enterprise, AL which is home to our very own CENTURY 21 Regency Realty.
Rand McNally and USA Today have been making their way across the country to judge each city and select a winner. The winner will be announced on Monday July 16th.
On Thursday June 28th the judges pulled into Enterprise, AL and the CENTURY 21 team was at the ready to show off their red, white and blue and help their hometown claim the title.
“We decided to host a hot dog eating contest, you know, like the one Nathan’s Hot Dogs hosts every year,” said Erin Cotter Tullos, Associated Broker at CENTURY 21 Regency Realty. “We decided to have ten contestants and we invited business and civic leaders to come participate. We named the event ‘The Chow Down for Charity,’ sponsored by CENTURY 21.”
The CENTURY 21 Regency Realty team asked each contestant to donate $100 to the Chow Down for Charity, and in the end, the winner would receive the whole pot ($1,000) to donate to the charity of their choice. The competition was held on the office’s front lawn and the mayor of Enterprise came to MC.
After a solid competition, Zachary Showers, English professor at Enterprise State Community College (ESCC), was crowned the winner (pictured above with the Chow Down for Charity trophy). Mr. Showers is planning to donate the $1,000 grand prize to the ESCC Scholars’ Bowl Team.
In addition to the contest, the CENTURY 21 Regency Realty team also positioned a seven foot tall U.S.A. sign on the office’s front lawn. Members of the community could write words of support and encouragement on the sign for their loved ones currently serving in the military. “Our goal is to put the sign back out every year between Memorial Day and July 4th to allow members of the community to write the names of their loved ones who are deployed and to share messages of solidarity and strength,” said Jodi Gunnett, marketing director for CENTURY 21 Regency Realty.
After such a successful day with the Chow Down for Charity, the CENTURY 21 team has decided to make this an annual event. The office has 25 agents and each one helped prepare for this day and make it special for the entire city of Enterprise.
“We live in an Army community. Fort Rucker is right here and it’s important for people to know that we are patriotic every single day, all year long, not just because of this contest” Gunnett said. “We are grateful every day, every year.”
Congratulations to the CENTURY 21 Regency Realty team on a great day and good luck to the entire city of Enterprise! We’re rooting for you!
