Domicile

In the world of real estate, the word "domicile" refers to any state where a person has established a permanent residency. There are a number of things used to define a person's domicile, such as the state of their driver's license, voter registration, or having utility and other bills attached to the address of the home. Although in most circumstances a domicile is simply the state in which a person lives, that is not always the case. There are situations in which a person may not actually reside in their domicile state, such as a man who owns a house in Florida but spends six months out of every year in the south of Spain. In order to keep a domicile in a state where one is not currently residing, a home must be maintained there, and the person has to have made it clear that they have an intention to one day return.
