Density Test

A density test or soil density test is a type of soil analysis that builders utilize in order to insure that the soil can support the concrete foundation of a house or building. Soil must have a certain and uniform density to be able to support the foundation and allow it to properly settle. Regardless of the size of a building, it is essential to be aware of all the soil conditions at the building site. A geotechnical consultant is usually hired in these cases to perform a thorough soil investigation. There are situations where the foundations can be poured, based on established practices such as a subdivision where extensive soil density testing has been done and there are not many variances throughout the site of a subdivision or strip center.
