Commercial Property

In real estate, a commercial property is any type of property that is used to generate a profit. The building or land may generate profit from either rental income or from capital gain. In addition, some states categorize residential properties with more than certain numbers of units as commercial properties for some purposes. There are several different categories of commercial properties. There are leisure commercial properties, which include hotels, sports facilities and restaurants. Retail commercial properties include malls, boutiques and retail stores. Examples of office commercial properties include office buildings and serviced offices. Industrial commercial properties are garages, industrial properties, warehouses and distribution centers. Nursing homes, clinics and hospitals are healthcare commercial properties. Apartments are categorized as multifamily commercial properties. It should be noted that businesses that many businesses that use commercial real estate properties lease the spaces rather than own the properties. Typically, an investor owns the properties and charges rent to the businesses.
